Experience from the ENNEREG Regions
Implementation of Sustainable Energy Projects in the ENNEREG Pioneer Regions
This report aims to evaluate the impacts of the implementation of Sustainable Energy Projects (SEPs) in all ENNEREG Pioneer Regions during ENNEREG’s project implementation between May 2010 and April 2013.
It is hoped that this publication will act as Inspiration to others developing SEPs in their own regions and local communities.
Summary
[EN - English]
As part of the project 12 Pioneer ENNEREG Regions have been producing regional Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAPs) and initiating Sustainable Energy Projects (SEPs). The ENNEREG Pioneer Regions have been sharing their experience directly with 14 ENNEREG Twin Regions and ENNEREG has also been actively promoting replication in Sustainable Regions throughout Europe.
To promote and support these activities, the ENNEREG Regions 202020 website (www.regions202020.eu) acts as a platform providing inspiration and encouraging networking and replication enabling regions and their local communities to exchange experiences and be inspired on their journey to develop and implement SEAPs and SEPs.

The ENNEREG Project has produced a number of reports based on input from the 12 Pioneer ENNEREG Regions providing supporting material for the ENNEREG Inspiration Guide for regional decision-makers. The Inspiration Guide, along with supporting documents including Good Practice Case Studies, Regional SEAPs and many other resources, can be found on the Regions 202020 website at: www.regions202020.eu/inspiration

Introduction
This report aims to evaluate the impacts of the implementation of Sustainable Energy Projects (SEPs) in all regions during ENNEREG’s project implementation between May 2010 and April 2013.
For this task, the first chapter of this report comprises a general overview on the total number of SEP, which was supported in each region as part of the ENNEREG activities. It also contains a profound analysis of the SEP focus in each region, assessing the distribution of SEP activities between all ENNEREG Sustainable Energy topics.
The second chapter is then to analyze more in detail the performance of each ENNEREG region with respect to the four Performance Indicators as defined by the European Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation (EACI). The concrete focus of the ENNEREG regions in relation to the total project outcome will be scrutinized for each indicator, highlighting the most important performance input in terms of SEP implementation to the total result. As for other projects under the Intelligent Energy Europe Program, the following performance indicators were defined for ENNEREG to measure and evaluate the project outcome in relation to SEP implementation:
- Cumulative investment triggered by ENNEREG in sustainable energy (in k€ until 2020),
- Renewable energy production triggered (in toe/a),
- Total primary energy savings (in toe/a)
- Reductions of CO2 emissions (in toe/a)
The third chapter evaluates in more detail ENNEREG’s support for SEP implementation in the different regions, including assessing the added value of the overall action.
The fourth and final chapter 5 then describes the main results with respect to the identification and dissemination of good practice projects in the eight ENNEREG topics, which will be published in order to be replicated elsewhere in Europe.
